Embracing Disappointment

At the outset of our journey, I want to draw our attention to an unlikely ally: Disappointment.

Much of our resistance to wanting can be traced back to our fear of disappointment - this keeps us reluctant to risk wanting in case we might fail in some way.

It's important to deepen our comfort with disappointment as a very natural, ordinary part of life. Developing our courage and capacity to acknowledge, feel and process our disappointments stretches and changes us in rich ways. Usually, it is far less devastating than we fear it will be.

This is important to remember - as the more we relax about exposing ourselves to disappointment, the more relaxed and expressive we can become in our wanting.
