Three Types of Energy

Touchstones: Three Energies

I have found myself returning again and again to this simple principle: that there are three essential - complementary - sources of energy in our lives that we need to work more consciously with:* Dynamic, Receptive, and Magnetic.

1) DYNAMIC: the energy of doing eg: action, work, exercise...

2) RECEPTIVE: the energy of not-doing eg: deep listening, rest, receiving love

3) MAGNETIC: energy that draws toward itself what it wants...eg: when you set an intention/speak of manifesting something

This is a really useful principle to bear in mind for our journey with wanting.

Throughout this course, I offer an approach that develops our capacity in each of these territories. As we learn to bring these energies into balance, we find we can accomplish things with more space, support and flexibility than before.

Exploring our tendencies...

In each of us, 'the art of wanting' is about a flexible, interwoven dialogue between these capacities - the dynamic capacity to drive our wants, the receptive capacity to take in the gifts of life, and the potent, often over-looked power of wanting itself.

Exploring our connection with these energies can help clarify areas of imbalance – and support our understanding of the role of wanting in our lives:

Look at your own life in terms of the three types of energy.

What do each look like, in your case?

Is there something you are inclined to over-rely on?

Is there an element you could develop more?
